I co-led the UX side of a multi-functional team that redesigned the e-commerce website of a national industrial supplier. Via extensive client conversations, phone-based customer interviews, and existing customer survey data, we discovered and integrated custom B2B features and functionalities unique to the client's business. The goal was to make a best-in-class consumer-level website that welcomed new customers, while also staying true to the wants and needs of existing large business customers. The site launches in late summer 2016.

ForeSee is a customer satisfaction analytics company, and in addition to providing survey-based analysis for websites across many industries, it offers best practice improvements via usability heuristic analyses. I was one of the first members of this new usability team, created in late 2007, starting as a usability auditor. For three years, I analyzed over 150 websites using hundreds of usability best practices, wrote detailed reports of usability issues and recommendations, and presented them to clients around the country. After this I moved into more of a supervisory role, becoming a team lead and then a co-manager of a team of 20+ auditors. As a manager, I trained, coached, and supervised new auditors, helping them develop and hone their usability analysis skills. I also provided operational and strategic guidance to upper management, assisted in sales calls, and spoke at conferences. Late in my tenure there, I helped completely redesign our internal auditing tool, acting as both a user and a client while we worked with a local development firm to build it out.

JWT/Wunderman/Team Detroit was the exclusive design agency for Ford Motor Company, and I was part of a large website design team that worked closely with members of Ford Marketing and Product Development, to create digital experiences that supported vehicle launches. As an information architect, I was the user advocate that designed sitemaps and wireframes for marketing sites for the Edge, Escape, Expedition, Sport Trac, and Flex vehicle launches. I soon became involved in cross-vehicle website projects, most notably the redesign of their complex vehicle configurator. I also contributed to broader company initiatives, including Ford's redesigned marketing campaign, Bold Moves. In addition to designing and collaborating with creatives and developers, I conducted usability lab testing in multiple U.S. cities, contributed to SEO/SEM campaigns with large vendors such as Yahoo, Google, and Microsoft, and worked closely with QA to ensure the projects we created were not only were first class in design but also usable by customers.

I did the design and development for a total rework of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School website, with attention focused on easier and more efficient navigation, increased functionality and usability, and greater professionalism and visual appeal. I worked closely with 4-person team and the larger Rackham staff, employing various user interface design principles such as comparative evaluation, usability testing, and heuristic evaluation.

Designed and developed in four months, I managed a team of three graphic and web designers, leading the organization and layout of the new monthly publication's website. Ongoing development work continued for the next five years, launching over 40 issues, with me being the sole developer maintaining and improving the website's front-end and custom back-end content management system.
Bellevue Literary Press approached me, desiring to upgrade the look and feel of their site, make it more professional, and be easier for customers to find books of interest. I designed wireframes as well as a new structure and overall layout, and developed the HTML/CSS framework to support current and future pages.
